Welcome to the Resource Center, created especially to connect speed skaters and families with sources of information. Whether you are a beginning speed skater, an elite skater, or an adult looking for an enjoyable way to stay active, the sport of speed skating offers something for everyone! Where to start? The beginning! If you are new to the sport of speed skating, you're in good company! Every successful speed skater had a first time on the ice, wore speed skates for the first time, attempted cross-overs for the first time, raced in their first meet...
Parents experience a different learning curve: they learn to mold and tie skates, sharpen blades, comprehend schedules at a competition (how come it only says when the first race starts?), and support their child's experience by volunteering or becoming an official. Learning is an ongoing process with speed skating and can be taken as far as parent and child wish to go--from the hometown arena all the way to international competitions.
Please let us know if we can help you in any way! Happy speed skating!
